Here's the corrected version of my first Python/Django video tutorial on password validation! 📹🔒 It covers how to enable validation, customise settings, write your own validators, and integrating password validation in your own views or APIs:

I saw this poor example of bathroom signs the other day. The text suggests both are for any gender, the images are clearly gender stereotyped 🤷‍♀️

This works for conference talks to some degree as well. I’ve slipped up, forgotten things, lost my train of thought on stage. I don’t think anyone ever noticed.

git rebase isn't about "hygiene" or "moving commits to a different branch" or anything else. it's about saving face after it takes you 37 tries to get travis working

Our CFP for Portland is still open! We welcome talks from anyone on anything relating to documentation in the widest sense! We have a very welcoming community, a recent attendee said we are "ridiculously responsive and inclusive organizers"

“I’m an ally to the trans community but I have concerns” well I have major concerns about cis people, for instance that they won’t stop trying to figure out how to make trans people stop existing

HackerOne leaked a working session ID, bounty $20000. Using Django? My package django-restricted-sessions reduces impact of session ID leakage, by tying sessions to IP / user agent (customisable). Would have prevented this leak from being used this way: 🔒

I’m sorry I haven’t replied to your email but I glanced at it, vowed to deal with it later, and now the very thought of even opening it fills me with crippling dread.

Having scholarships are great, but conferences should never ask "which underrepresented group do you belong to" 😱😱😱 For one, you can't check whether it's true. More importantly, it can be incredibly sensitive info, e.g. about health or LGBTQ status and put people in danger.

I've also seen many conference events where you can grab wine right from the bar, but getting water or other non-alcoholic drinks requires asking the staff and possibly waiting in line. Making alcohol the most accessible. Saw it most recently at I think.

Literally every recommendation on how to come up with a password in this document, is absolutely terrible 😂 This isn't unusual for banks, and I think it's mostly tied to cargo cult ideas from a distant past, combined with internal change being slow and difficult.

One of the banks I use, , will reject very secure passphrases like "baguette shortly ungloved tweak train", but accept an insecure password like "Password1" 😱😱😱 My next video will include password validation recommendations.

Screenshot showing "Password1" being accepted as secure by a bank, due to having 5-20 characters, 1 digit, 1 uppercase letter, 1 lowercase letter.

Wow, Sasha! I am only a couple of minutes in, but this is a fantastic tutorial that all documentarians should see for inspiration! Great work.

Apparently I misplaced one of the audio tracks, causing it to overlap with the new audio - and out of sync with the associated video content. "It was just a small edit" I thought, and so I didn't review the full video again before posting. Famous last words 🤦‍♀️

How did I end up mixing two audio tracks in my first ever tutorial video? This might sound familiar to many developers: I made some tweaks last night, adding a few short sentences, and therefore had to move other content back by a little bit.

The process of exporting, uploading and processing a video definitely feels like it takes forever, especially when you see people in the mean time retweeting your tweet with the version that has broken audio 😱😱😱
