this is a really good point I've gone to more of an "unordered set" mental model, that's less "I should read this!" and more "if it ever becomes relevant, I think this'll be a good book to read", especially with tech books (looking at you, Terraform In Action)

so, this is interesting - for a long time, i flipped between "read one book at a time" and "read what you feel like". The first ends up with me getting stuck on something worthy but hard, the second ends up with being halfway through a hundred books.

Surprisingly, this doesn’t really work for me. Today’s frontier of interest/urgency becomes less relevant at an unpredictable rate. It’s also easy to misjudge the right on-ramp for you for any particular avenue of enquiry.

i think it's important to also be able to collapse some connected section of the graph back to a comprehensible node - sort of tagging it for later and keeping the current set of open nodes small.
