    To women who have less trouble advocating for yourselves: advocate and speak up for the women who don't feel comfortable doing so. To men who see bad-ass, smart women doing awesome things: amplify them, it costs you nothing.

    Last year, I walked alone from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama, following in the footsteps of civil rights marchers, in protest of Jeff Sessions’s rise to Attorney General. I wrote at length about the experience here.

    Trying to decide about teaching myself (limited but free) versus taking a certificate program (more comprehensive, less free) for a specialized topic that I'm not sure how much I'll use past this job but is a good skill to have in the toolbox

    The Roseate Spoonbill is a bizarre spectacle, from their namesake spoon bill, to their balding head that loses more feathers with age, to their shocking pink plumage that (like flamingos) is acquired from the crustaceans they eat.
