Open Recent in any application you don’t use very often. My computer is relatively new, but even then here’s Sketch, reminding me of a project from over a year ago.pic.twitter.com/PW6ph9oE94

(This, for example, is me standing in front of a construction site in Tokyo in February – doubly beautiful since my mom tells me I used to be obsessed with construction sites when I was very little in Poland, something I personally have no recollection of.)pic.twitter.com/41TukMKOPK

Great example of an unexpected interaction of two different components. “The photos are forgotten are until you accidentally use spotlight to load Photo Booth instead of iPhoto!”https://twitter.com/keithahern/status/996457932475846656 …

Keith Ahern @keithahernReplying to @mwicharyOS X Photo booth. We all played with it when it came out. Lots of us showed it to kids. Mine is full of goofy photos from friends with young families visiting. I wonder whether there has ever been a piece of software that understood that it’s been offline for multiple years (e.g. its programmers thought about this situation).https://twitter.com/kimaboe/status/996732810584043520 …

Kim A. Bøe @kimaboeReplying to @mwicharyFound another. During college, I had a http://Lynda.com subscription to learn software in-depth. Today, my company gave us access to LinkedIn Learning (which is Lynda in disguise). Two Lynda courses I did not complete in 2012 just showed up, ready to resume mid-lesson.4 replies 0 retweets 6 likesShow this thread -

The Animal Crossing series does a lot with this. Weeds will grow and characters will move to a different town.

Ah, yes. I think I heard of that. Although somehow it feels more expected in a game?

I think it makes sense when a core element of the game is the passage of real time. It wouldn’t make sense for Mario to give you a hard time because it’s been 6 months since you last played, for instance.

OMG what if you playing Mario was like exercise to him – you come back after 6 months and poor Mario is just out of shape.
