I found a new way which works on Safari, too. “position: absolute” with a transform in 3D space. Scroll up for an easter egg! http://aresluna.org pic.twitter.com/WmWPasaWL8

Twitter or the web is home to more weird, messy interactions. Here’s another one. I’m not moving my cursor at all.pic.twitter.com/GZvwgDIRdS

Same with the pre-UHD-monitor world. Used to be you could hide things "off canvas" with a negative pixel coordinate. Then I visited a site and saw all their button states hanging out in the left empty margin area.

Wait, can you explain more? I’m not sure I understand the UHD part.

Not only that, but safari's translucent chrome renders y < 0 as well.

Ah, yes! I hate that thing, though. It’s so distracting. :·/

I’ve made an interesting roundabout from playing with basic HTML as a teenager to statistical computing as an adult, and now I’m back in web dev stuff and there’s something so delightful about these types of quirks that I’ve missed.
