Wonderful device. A little underpowered at the time but was sold as a loss leader for their monthly internet service. So how did they keep it from being bought and used as just another computer?
The 40 pin IDE cable had every other pin swapped so, seemingly you couldn't put the drive in another computer and load a new OS. Until you could buy the adapters on eBay and then no more need for the service.
@lazygamereviews - Do you have one?
Actually, I think I do. Have a bunch of these internet appliances.
Hah, I remember the i-opener, added a hard drive to mine and turned it into PC with the shittiest color LCD you have ever seen, and have the threat letter from Netpliance to prove it.
Is it possible to see that letter? (My DMs are open.)
Can I preprogram that to a better pizza place?
