All of the visitor center merchandise is stored on shelves at wheelchair height. No racks with stuff hanging above your head.pic.twitter.com/QtkIgGIsLT

Instead of ramps, the entire structure is built on the exact level as the parking lot. Usually buildings are a curb-height higher since it's cheaper to use an elevated concrete pad than get the earth at the site completely flat for the foundation. Money was no object here.pic.twitter.com/IQBVaRHGAz

The only case of a facility that could not be used by both able-bodied and disabled people was the water faucet at the coffee bar. It's mounted too far back to reach from a wheelchair. Disabled folks have to use one of the standard water fountains near the restrooms.pic.twitter.com/2POaBtjQBU

A very subtle thing: the fire extinguishers are mounted at wheelchair height and behind a door that is not secured with anything more than some magnets. No glass to break.pic.twitter.com/3AXyNEdsZE

Same with the AED. I usually see these mounted around 5 feet above the floor so it is eye level with an upright adult. If this is not intentional, it's a happy accident.pic.twitter.com/KxRDr6IWPH

Basically, go to the Apple Park Visitor's Center if you want to see how to design a building for maximum disabled access when cost is no object.

I have a question about your use of “when cost is no object.” Do you mean other companies cheap out and don’t do the right things, or is Apple doing things in unnecessary expensive ways?

Little of column A, little of column B. I had no insight into the development process, I just know that they spent a goddamn fortune on what is basically a gift shop.

Full disclosure: I am not physically disabled. I'm just a guy who notices stuff. My family has been in the amusement park industry for two generations so I notice crowd control and accessibility features naturally.

We should be friends! https://twitter.com/mwichary/status/958979895882760193 … Are there any good blogs/articles about crowd control and stuff like that? I’ve always been interested in learning more.

Here's a trick I tell people to start their journey into Weird Crowd Control Vision: from any trash can in a public space, you should have clear line of sight to at least one other trash can. This keeps people from having to carry/drop trash, and ensures navigation paths.
