My gut feeling tells me it’s as intentional, it’s just we might not understand the intention? I saw many very deliberate keyboard layouts that I’d consider Linotype-like, but they aren’t the exact match – and that includes Dvorak.

I guess I don’t think “hint of frequency” makes sense since I don’t know what would be the reason to go halfway? It just might be something else.

Oh, I think I know what it is. The English encoding of katakana/hiragana. So intentional, but as far as I know not frequency-based. I’m curious whether BCD are there because they need to write out seat numbers: 1A, 1B, 1C, 1D?pic.twitter.com/dErWHRLcCx
