41. I am getting a sense that Japan/Tokyo take better care of differently abled people? Examples: tactile presentation of the train configuration, and lower handlebars. Also, each elevator has a second set of buttons for people in wheelchairs.pic.twitter.com/YiFXoZoPtt
42. So I briefly used to play with model train(s) as a kid before discovering computers and it’s definitely not all coming back to me now, why do you ask?pic.twitter.com/c4FmgdsxfI
43. My phone and my battery died in the middle of exploring which was unnerving, given I once managed to get lost after literally having seen my destination in front of me. (And I saw a bunch of things on the way I couldn’t take photos of. :·( )
44. Tower Records! With a surprisingly robust movie soundtrack section, and – on another floor – the first album I ever fell in love with. (However, the sort order of soundtracks defeated me.)pic.twitter.com/MLZd3QMzk9

46. Is there a name for this kind of esthetic? Is western text stretched thin in here (which I see very often) just to make the low information density slightly less unbearable?pic.twitter.com/xqFwhS9B8u
Well, for Japan, English text doesn't really matter as long as it's readable. (I've seen English text/fonts in modern Japanese TV/movie productions that is mismatched compared to the quality of the scene, when viewed from an American viewpoint.)
AFAIK, then in CJK countries, Latin text is typically represented with a thin serif font, which is found in Latin blocks of CJK fonts. Looking at these photos, it seems, that newlines are probably not used as often.
There is also this idea of half width, right? Maybe that influences Latin text, too? /cc @cpalmieri
Nothing more intentional here than “let’s “make it fit.” Nothing to do with half width, afaik.
I meant it in the sense whether being used to proportions of half width kanji etc. makes it more comfortable to use condensed Latin text, as well? But we can talk in person. :·)
