1/2 Was just in a week long design sprint that struggled w/focus & endless circular conversation with little progress towards goals of the sprint. We needed to challenge and move on from past assumptions. We politely danced around it to the point of dimishing returns.

2/2 After numerous attempts to politely challenge POVs and drive decisions, with time running out on the last day, I heightened tone and began proding POVs. Some neg friction (mostly due to fatigue) but mostly pos friction, and we captured the needed progress against our goals.

Controlled, channeled energy can be seen as anger but is merely passion and/or a tool in the bag. Only negatively reacting to friction can be superficial and naive. Use it. Its a tool. Keep it non-personal. Can be fuel on fire and slingshot the group’s momentum forward.
