This was how everyone on the Google UX team learned what “hysteresis” is: from Chad explaining how the on-hover pop up cards nearly read your mind (actually your mouse moves) to tell whether you were trying to move your cursor towards the card or trying to do something else.

OMG OMG OMG I’m in love. Hysteresis and interaction asymmetry in general are the unsung heroes of UI design.
