There are a couple of streets in Greenwich Village that cross themselves, such as the corner of Waverly Pl and Waverly Pl.

That's crazy. Here in Edmonton we enforce a strict grid system, changing the name of streets when they turn a corner. **looks at map more closely** Um, nevermind. (Not pictured, the part where 113 St turns into 114 as it crosses 72 Ave which is partly 71 ave across the street.)pic.twitter.com/G3fI9254Iv

But the part that really confuses visitors are all those NW in the street names. This is south-central part of a city designed to be centered around 101 St & 101 ave. But eventually they ran out of numbers in the south and east, so now 90% of the city is "northwest".

I recommend any map of Pittsburgh, particularly mid-20th c. You will not regret it.

In Greenwich Village NYC, it was because the locals were not about the Randall Commission making the Manhattan on a grid because they KNEW where they lived, tyvm. So it’s a nice grid above 14th st, and the lower bit runs together.

I tour guide in that neighborhood and live in fear of losing group members every time.
