Yesterday's most interesting pickup: A Hercules Graphics Card! This was an early monochrome video card which could do 720×348 graphics, which was pretty freakin' amazing for 1982. (This is actually the 1986 Hercules Graphics Card Plus, which adds redefinable fonts.)pic.twitter.com/QwbeF0lLTS

One common use for these was in game dev. Because the monochrome area is mapped at a different memory location than the graphical area, you could put a monochrome card like this in a PC, and run a debugger on it, while the main screen shows the game.

Other pickups: A XT floppy drive controller card, a memory expansion, and a monochrome adapter (MDA or clone?) (Sorry for the terrible pictures, I'm still setting up in my new place and it's a mess)pic.twitter.com/3pcaCwUlJ1

two books on BASIC programming and an S-VHS tape. S-VHS is an improved version of VHS which added more luminance bandwidth to increase picture quality.pic.twitter.com/jb3MbGyRuq

Delphi's Oracle, for the c64. Not that Delphi and not that Oracle, but still interesting. A database for the c64!pic.twitter.com/Z5np8Cxp8j

Amazingly the book contained the receipts for when it was purchased! Apparently this cost 125$, in '83! And then they got a replacement disk in '84? (Amusingly, both stores use the same "computer" font. oh, the 80s...)pic.twitter.com/KoLnWFEoXA

I also got a ThinkPad 760ED in unknown condition. I've already got one of these, but this was cheap and hey, spare parts!pic.twitter.com/xqELmOBQ16

Good question! I do some videos (and I have lots of plans for more), some data rescue projects, but mainly I just like playing with old hardware.

Do you keep them all? Do you have a list? I’m just curious. :·)
