This is half measure’s half measure. Typography is a *system*, not a random collection of on/off toggles you get to play with.
You designed a great font, and then with this awful decision you *shot it in the face.*
After so many years of bad Notes typography decisions, you finally got it!!! And just like that, it’s gone again.
Just like that, I every day have to stare at one letter that looks like it was just copied and pasted from some other typeface altogether.
When I don’t feel angry as a typographer, it bothers me as an engineer – it feels like some encoding error, a Greek α somehow taking over.
It feels embarrassing, this profound misunderstanding of what typography is, and how to treat typefaces (and their customers) with respect.
Either make a full cursive version of San Francisco (*), or don’t mess with it. Okay, rant done. But Jesus. (*) but really, please, don’t
