Was so inspired by this, last evening I re-cut “Sneakers” and made a fake horrible blockbuster trailer for it:https://vimeo.com/229679394

(Particularly fun to compare with the original trailer from 25 years ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G_XRqJV2zdk …)

A few people asked, so this is how it was made. I started by re-watching the movie and writing down timestamps of interesting scenes.pic.twitter.com/uZbRScTx0M

I already had a Sneakers video file I “found on the internet.” (Worry not; I paid for Sneakers many times! https://twitter.com/mwichary/status/866779007785738240 …)

I converted it to the right format (MP4) using a tool called Handbrake. https://handbrake.fr/

Then, I got the free trial version of Adobe Premiere Pro, put everything in, and did all the editing there.pic.twitter.com/2d6uSdchSv

The edits are pretty simple, just cuts and a few (cross)fades – I did absolutely nothing fancy here.

I also used Photoshop for the few intertitles. I exported them as images and dragged them to Premiere.pic.twitter.com/LnNDPAKYIg

The last step – exporting and uploading to Vimeo – was pretty easy, and surprisingly fast.

All in all, this took ~5 hours, including watching the movie. (I have scant video editing experience, and I’m by no means a professional.)

Making a movie trailer is a really fun exercise; selecting scenes and cutting to the rhythm was rather satisfying…

…and the whole project was nicely contained by its nature. Hope this is helpful! https://vimeo.com/229679394
