This kind of stuff bothers me. I love “smart”/proper/typographical quotation marks for (at least) three reasons:
In the narrow sense, that argument doesn’t fly ever since 1878 and the invention of Shift.

disagree. two keys pressed in convention act as a third key. they always produce the same result, like a typographer picking type

I do find it sad that it's so hard to CHOOSE to use typographical quotes on today's physical keyboards... but there is hope.
