Also, can’t believe I just called this an “app.” I’m so sorry, my dear program.
A four-players-on-one-keyboard plane shooting game. I think I stole those clouds from another game (Lotus?).pic.twitter.com/7a7JXQ7Tvz
This is most notable for using a nonstandard 360×240 graphic mode that I just copied from another game (assembly), without understanding it.
Today that seems like a huge milestone on the path to becoming a pragmatic programmer, but it’s only obvious in retrospect.
I was so excited about this, I wrote an article to a computer magazine sharing this with others. Also a milestone.pic.twitter.com/KSabcmwHUF
The first ¶ of that article is basically the same description of business vs. casual graphic modes that I put here: https://backchannel.com/a-hacker-s-guide-to-bending-the-universe-86a5636b04da …
Haha, I literally said “I’m going to skip the details to save space,” to cover up I HAD NO IDEA HOW IT WORKED. I just knew it did.
I was also into collecting title cards of games I had on my computer…pic.twitter.com/mEmlUJszp6
…as well as title cards of videogame company logos.pic.twitter.com/BvV3pBj9Oc
I ended up having 500+ of each.pic.twitter.com/3TOK1JK7qv
I was so into it, I would write little programs to grab those screenshots, or to convert them from original files.pic.twitter.com/5LFiDPSAfY
I have no idea why I was doing that, except… you know, collecting?pic.twitter.com/GJwhofwb9O
