Thanks so much, Greg (@spkr4thedead51)! A popular name (Grzegorz) means many options, I’m going to pick May 9! https://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grzegorz pic.twitter.com/PEi9mlt8Is

We received a generous offer from @skuwamoto to match another $1,000, so the thread continues!
Emily, you have 7 name day options, and some cool saints in your collection! https://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emilia
May I suggest May 23, just when it’s getting warm?
Joshua, thank you for your donation – your name in Polish is Jozue, with a frustrating name day of December 24… but you can always change it!https://twitter.com/schwa23/status/1326683679746240512 …
Sophia! You are amazing. In Polish, you are Zofia (which is a classic beautiful name), and you have 7 name day options… let’s pick September 2! https://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zofia_(imię) …https://twitter.com/spara/status/1326684939987906567 …
Ryan is here with another donation – thanks! The closest I could get in Polish is “Brajan,” and your name day is now December 10.
We are now at $405 doubled for the second batch (thanks, @skuwamoto) – let’s get to $1000!!!https://twitter.com/rcuppernull/status/1326686537459916802 …
(I have to disappear for a few hours to actually celebrate my name day! But I will be back later. Please donate if you can!!!)
A donation by a secret benefactor puts us at $455 in the second run – thank you!!!pic.twitter.com/ao1o8cD0k2
And here’s another anonymous donation! $505 matched by @skuwamoto!!!pic.twitter.com/iBlFXdWPfn
A donation from @kelseymwhelan (thank you!) was a challenge. Her Old English name, which means “ship’s victory” or “fierce island” has absolutely no Polish equivalent.
But then I thought “fierce island” = Fyre Festival, which was on April 28.pic.twitter.com/EHq1Kv1c6n
So Kelsey’s name day is now April 28! …but please hear me out, since so far this is horrible. One of the saints attached to April 28 is Przybycześć, which is a super bad-ass old-school Polish name meaning “come bearing honour and valour,” which maybe redeems it somehow!
Here is a donation from @kayessgordon – I think your saint should be Karyna, which makes your name day November 7 (https://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karina ). We just missed it. :·(
We’re now at $585, which is almost 2/3 towards the matching goal of $1,000!pic.twitter.com/Avlk8TfRfp
Thanks for your generosity, @nlevin!
You get two options, and I’m going to pick May 31! https://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noe_(imię)
(↑ If you follow the footnote here you can learn the story of your patron saint and the date’s significance. There is no happy ending, but that’s often the case.)pic.twitter.com/5LkHF7JAQd
This is a reminder that the wonderful @skuwamoto is matching the second $1,000 and we’re at almost $700 now!
Sho’s name means “crystal/pure,” and there is a Polish name (via Latin) that means something similar. That name is Laudo, and your name day is thus September 21!
This means that if you donate before midnight to Fair Fight, you can get your money doubled = you will save our democracy TWICE AS HARD, and also will get a cool name day and maybe even a cool saint as part of the package!
Thank you so much for your generosity, @sharonw! Your money will be matched, and your name day is now July 13! (via https://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sara_(imię) …, which seems the closest to your name that doesn’t quite exist in Polish)pic.twitter.com/0uM5daMBot
There are still two hours left in the day, and if you are feeling generous, your donation to Fair Fight up to $200 will be doubled!!!
Whoa! And @twright0 gets us there with his donation – thank you.
Tomasz is a popular name, and so you have a bunch of saints looking after you, and eight name day options: https://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tomasz . I think March 7 feels like the best one to me!pic.twitter.com/oJix3WKaOA
So here we are, all of your generosity meaning Fair Fight will now put a combined donation of $4,140 to good use! (And, personally, I didn’t get to have any geese or special croissants today, but this was even better. Thank you.)
Thank you to @kettering @schwa23 @spara @rcuppernull @kelseymwhelan @kayessgordon @nlevin @sharonw and @twright0 for the second batch of donations, and particularly @skuwamoto for generously matching the second $1,000!
