Annual reminder that Polish Independence Day is only loosely tied to Armistice Day, in that both arose from the collapse of German authority, but the shared date is only coincidental.

Simply - the Armistice didn't cause Polish Independence to occur; there was a disconnect between events on the Western and Eastern Front. 11th November was a little arbitrary as a date of independence - the transfer of authority from the Regency Council to Pilsudski.

Need to add that 11.11 was agreed as the Independet Day about 1925/26. Beforehand due to political polarisation different political groups celebrated Independence separately
