Hey Fabio, you can control the PNG copy multiplier by adding an export setting (the largest multiplier will be used), or by copying when in Pixel Preview mode (the pixel preview setting will be used). Hope this helps. :)

Thanks. I will have to figure out a workaround. It’s not practical having to remember to switch modes or to add export options to something I just want to copy. I’d much prefer 1x by default, then largest export option if any are set.

Can you show or share some examples of the kind of frames you’re copying where 2x makes it worse?

If you "copy as png" (with current 2x default) any design to share on Trello, Slack, Discord, Asana, etc. it will be displayed with the wrong size. Coworkers can't see the correct size, makes the feature unusable. When is copying at 2x good?

Most screens are retina, but people (and CSS etc.) prefer pre-retina units while designing. This means that every quick copy/paste into Slack etc. results in screenshots that are too coarse, corresponding to non-retina phones, tablet, or laptops that no longer exist.

But when pasting into slack, slack doesn’t know it’s a 2x file, so shows it double the size instead of double the resolution. So that reason doesn’t make sense. People are not getting the correct preview.

Correct, in some places the size is still wonky, but only in some places – and that’s something the Chromium team is working on†, so hopefully this will be resolved over time. † https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=698793#c17 …

What are some places where pasting a copied image from Figma displays it in the correct size?

Keynote/Apple Notes/most stuff that’s native, incl. Sketch (
) – but there are also a bunch of web-based places like Paper, Slack (e.g. in the stream) where the size matters less than sharpness.1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

I can't say I agree with the decision of making this the default. When it works it's a nice to have. When it doesn't it gets in the way of people's work. And most work tools today are web/electron based, so fails often.
