familiarity is important but also, getting new line names to show up on the trains, in the station announcements, etc is a huge effort. this way they can do what they do with the KT now and just refer to it by an existing line name depending on which way it is headed
Makes sense! But how about just choosing K or L for the entire new segment?
– if you made K the name, the former "L" part of the line would have to have all of its signs updated still – it might make people think they were losing the L route, for example, which would make this plan face opposition this is all just guessing though
Oh, are the K/L signs matched with destinations on the placards? I guess they are on the maps and so on.
