I feel like they are too. The web page actually uses *'s in the text and they get properly blacked out, but if you try that in the TextArea you just see the *'s. It's clearly something the font is doing, because if you disable font in NoScript, it will show the *'s on the page.

Two things, I’m guessing: · The font has a black bar in place of * · They don’t want swear words in the site copy because it’d get them off Google or something like that (or because some browsers don’t support ligatures, although that feels less likely).
