For all the font foundries or type designers wondering how best to make sure their fonts behave well in @figmadesign, I just published a small guide on how Figma uses font metrics. Let me know if I missed anything important!https://www.figma.com/community/file/838187493478834415 …

Some foundries provide fonts with metrics specifically optimised for desktop apps (Adobe, Office, etc), and also webfonts optimised for web environments as they both interpret it differently. See for example the different strategies herehttps://glyphsapp.com/tutorials/vertical-metrics …

I understand that part, but I was curious how you get Figma to use web fonts rather than desktop fonts?

So if Figma loads the locally installed ones they are probably not the webfonts ?

Wei is right: not every foundry unifies their web fonts and desktop fonts when it comes to metrics. I do, but that’s optimism and stubbornness, perhaps not wisdom. So you might need to refer to the web font, when you’re in Figma, for accuracy.
