I randomly saw it mentioned while looking through a magazine called “Ms.” at the Prelinger Library.pic.twitter.com/vd0FMXmsRA

A few years ago, a friend of a friend in Chicago donated a typewriter to me. What interested me in that typewriter was that it used the Dvorak layout. I asked the woman about this unusual choice.pic.twitter.com/75vdgvA5dr
She said something like this: “My father wanted me and my sister to be able to use a typewriter for ourselves – but he didn’t want either of us to get trapped in an obvious secretary job.” Getting a Dvorak typewriter was meant to guarantee the first, and avoid the second.
(Apparently, the plan worked.)
Also, I finally get these jokes from files I saved years ago. :·)pic.twitter.com/sKMd0oTEEH
