Hi @figmadesign would you consider adding better support for controlling the direction of content using Auto Layout? By default, Figma decides the direction based on the constraint setting. There is a workaround, but it makes it a bit fiddly to manage.pic.twitter.com/75zLiZlOha

Hi! Thanks for the feedback. Would you mind sharing specific use cases (rather than abstract examples), so we can figure out how to prioritize this?

Of course. I encountered the difficulty when I was trying to convert a library https://www.figma.com/c/file/784773846783975923 … I use to annotate designs. I use it for UX documents and presentations.pic.twitter.com/c5l7AcQxPg

In my particular use case, it should be possible to use a workaround which is to add a wrapper frame to act as a relative location for the instance to move from. But I believe there is a bug with how auto layout works with different constraints and also rotated objects.

I sent some examples to your support team but feel free to reach out if it doesn't make sense or you need more info.

Just to be clear sorry, it's an issue because the line can be stretched. Otherwise, it would work fine.pic.twitter.com/VCbmC6pjoL

Looks like these quirks have been fixed since I last took a look.
Thanks for listening to my feedback!1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes
That’s awesome. Thanks for reporting! I filed a bunch of bugs based on your feedback. We still have a few, but going through them methodically.
