This is amazing, ha ha. Dark mode really is just a weird pop marketing fad. What some call “dark mode” has been around longer than “bright mode”. Software is used in many different, diverse contexts. A lot of people might tend to or prefer to work in a dark environment. In those contexts, dark mode is a significantly better experience than bright interfaces.

100% agree. I was working yesterday evening with my eyes tired (and my vision is still pretty good!), and I had to lower brightness every time I switched to Figma so it didn’t hurt my eyes. I had background light on in the room.

Human vision is complex and arguably the most precious of senses we have. There is also a body of research showing how late exposure to light might affect sleep patterns – I know people who use dark mode just for that reason.
