Design / iOS twitter: how do you deal with the fact that text is positioned different inside iOS labels vs Figma text box? Is there best practice around this? cc @mwichary @rsms?pic.twitter.com/cSEOSLP6w0

It's not just restricted to #iOS - the same challenge applies for #Android devs when trying to implement designs from @figmadesign. Left (white) image is Figma & right (blue) image is Android Studio. We no longer purely rely on measurements & address it with design reviews.pic.twitter.com/sxXbslQqMr

Yeah i figured this might be the case for android as well. At least web is fairly close. Honestly, this is starting to look like the hill I will die on. ⚰️

The positive you can take from the restrictions in the software are introducing design reviews with your Devs (if you have that opportunity). Moving from a pure "handover" to design review session has proven to be a real positive outcome for us at #hostbyCBRE.

We have design reviews, but if we can get the text to show up the same way in code as in figma, it'd make working together a lot more streamlined. reviewing spacing is time consuming and not the best use of either party's time

💯 agree. It would be amazing if @figmadesign could address this common issue designers experience when handing over completed designs to front-end Devs 😉 #figmafeatureupdate

Figma should show adjustments needed to match iOS and Android in the Code panel – let us know whether that works for you (and whenever it fails).

From an iOS devs point of view the problem with code view is that is very verbose to create that exact layout. Which is good for an exact design but isn’t supportable or flexible.pic.twitter.com/MvdA1ULCMd

hmm I've been noodling on this problem with my engineer for a whole day. So far we've tried: 0. Using exactly the values from the code panel 1. Adjusting baseline 2. Embedding label in another view custom padding 3. overriding drawText(in rect:CGRect)

All of these either don't achieve a 1:1 match with Figma in terms of bounding box size and text positioning within, or is a massive refactor, or reduce performance significantly. :/
