Are there any conferences/festivals that promote topics instead of speakers? Or don’t publicize speaker names at all? The formulation of “you’re successful, therefore you must be interesting/smart/insightful” is insane. Look at the successful people we’re surrounded by.
There are some conferences that don’t fetishize speakers, but focus on the work. Also, while speaker name might be a shorthand for “fame/success,” it might also be a shorthand for “this person is a good speaker, I would watch them again, sometimes regardless of topic.”
