Is there a trick to doing that outside of Google searches? Is there a place illustrators go to? :·)

Good to know – is that still relevant? (Genuine question. I’m not there often.)

You could do a lot worse than looking at the Instagram accounts of illustrators on that mood board and either contacting them, or both looking at who they follow and what hashtags they add to their posts.

I think most of these are 1920–1980.
But I got some leads, and I will follow that advice (2nd-level followers and hashtags) for the modern illustrators in similar style – thank you!!! - Show replies

Also keep in mind that their fee should involve a conversation about rights and usage. If I'm contacted about illustrations for books, I'll typically ask about the size of the edition, how widely it'll be distributed, if those images will be used for marketing purposes etc.
-

I’ve had luck searching and following certain illustration hashtags on twitter and Instagram- if there’s an easy descriptive word for the style you’re looking for, that can help.
-
Thanks!!!!! I genuinely don’t know yet, but I’ll try!
