Can you explain why? I expected the lesson to be "Use the snow to figure out what's being used", but then the proposed redesign ignores the snow tracks.

I found the source video and the argument appears to be that not much of the area is actually used by vehicles (although I guess it's all reserved for them). I believe the snow also conceals the point.

It’s counterintuitive from the standpoint of a speeding car, but I understand the point is that focusing more on people (and slowing down cars) results in better/safer cities.
