We’ve seen this not so long ago with the “hold space to move cursor” trick in iOS, too. “Where have you been all my life” years down the road doesn’t feel like a good UI strategy.

this is also a problem with 3d touch which has been a failure thus far (at least IMO) for this exact reason. I never remember about it and there are ZERO visual clues even to tell you it can be useful somewhere.

To me 3D Touch combines two failures: it’s bad visibility of a bad idea. :·)

To me at least, it felt finicky – uneasy to press and recover from, conflicting with long presses, etc. I am not sure it’s salvageable, but that’s just me. It is definitely not executed all the way there.
