This is a list of all my Twitter threads, sorted by popularity. Might be fun to check out if you like what I do here. (And there’s more!) https://aresluna.org/twitter-threads/ …

Do you have tips about how to post to threads cleanly and easily? I screw it up soooo often

Jesus Christ, it is the worst. I make mistakes all the time. I am basically just trying to be really slow and double check. Some mistakes you can rectify by deleting and reconnecting the tweet properly again if you catch it in time.

I wish Twitter had just a better understanding of threads. They try to add a smart button here and there, but it’s all so rudimentary. In a perfect world, Twitter would tell you “this thread is in progress” and “subscribe to this thread” and maybe even…

…“tell me when this thread is over” (so you can catch up on reactions), and warn you when you’re breaking a linear thread.

It’s tricky because there is no certain definition of a “thread” – I came up with a specific heuristic for my script, but that heuristic might not be universally applicable.

Sorry, went off on a tangent. I often write somewhere else and then copy and paste tweets. Posting the entire thread in one second using the built-in UI just seems… wrong. Even posting a pre-written thread, you can pause to see reactions and change course.

That’s part of the fun of doing threads to begin with.

I feel like a little web app to show your in progress threads and let you post to them might be nice. I’m shocked there isn’t a third party client that does this.

Third party clients have been so maligned by Twitter I’m genuinely surprised they even stil lexist.

Twitter finally added client attribution back to the UI. I’m shocked.
