I’m looking forward to wifi calling, visual voicemail and carrier hopping. When those are in place I’ll gleefully bring my iPhone to Google Fi!

I’ve tried transitioning to Android but it’s just not how I’m wired. :-)

I hear ya... I feel the same about iOS. I need to update my comparison list: https://workflowy.com/s/Epmd.MuoWX8GB1q … -- iOS has gotten rid of the physical home button (good) and Android has good hardware now

And I've bumped into Android users that say the same about iOS, they just can't get used to it. I don't wish to promote tribalism. I'm genuinely curious what are the things both sides find hard to use about the other.

I have an ingrained sense memory and a deep understanding of the design language for iOS that makes other OSes feel crude and strange to me, in the same way that a Dvorak keyboard might be more efficient but I stick with Qwerty anyhow.

I feel the same. My best way to explain how Android feels to me every time I try to use it is “awkward.” (I wonder how many of the reasons people stick to their tribe are emotional and economic in nature, rather than bullet point feature comparison or rational decision-making.)

And yes! It’s fascinating there has been no decade since 1870 that some inventor didn’t try to usurp QWERTY by appealing to some sense of “better” and “efficiency” – often meticulously measured and documented – and being profoundly disappointed that in the end nobody cared.

I’m probably saying obvious things all around, but I get excited anytime someone mentions keyboards. ;)

I’m right there with you. I was a fan of the FITALY keyboard for handhelds.

FITALY! That’s almost exotic. (I believe everybody should try to learn an unusual keyboard layout for the same reasons everybody should learn a second language.)

So I can communicate with and learn from whole other cultures?
