I've been thinking a lot about hope these last few days.

I used to think that hope meant optimism, like a feeling that everything's going your way and it's going to be ok in the end. And I've been having a hard time having hope.

But now I think that hope feels more like grim determination, in the sense that you are going to fucking try and there's a chance it'll work. Like in Rogue One. We may get obliterated, but we'll get the Death Star plans out of here so that others can put them to use later.

And if that's what hope is, it means that hope can be fueled by grief and anger. And the kind of protective love that you feel when people you love are wronged, and things you treasure are trashed. And I've got lots of that.

So in the end, I'm feeling more hopeful. And with hope it's easier to take action. And we just might have a shot.
