Buttons on the ceiling are an antipattern in the first place, this just exacerbates the problem. Unfamiliar, undiscoverable, and inaccessible for many people.

Everyday experience tells me people don't expect to find controls on the ceiling. It's only familiar to freq flyers. Anecdotally, I've seen passengers following someone else in turning the fan or light on, presumably weren't aware or embarrassed to check.
