Very interesting and mirrors my own post on this: touch based computing is simpler and dominant, but it is not more powerful. There are tasks it just can't handle well. Messy, complex, multiple data type problems just don't fit into the tidy, siloed, file-less world of mobile https://twitter.com/kjhealy/status/1057982552001064961 …

(For the book research, I actually upgraded to a better file system – DefonThink. I really wish Finders and windowing systems were swappable/upgradable. I feel like we had it back in the day.)

Exactly! Files systems shouldn't be the end of the line. Products like DevonThink (which I've also used) are a natural extension and should be explored further.

I honestly see a potential schism forming w/consumer use of tech, much like the schism between people that only only Garageband and those that play the piano . One is easy & flashy. One is hard to learn but ultimately more expressive. Most just can't be bothered

I’m, as always, really interested in on-ramps. BASIC was a good one not just for programming, but also for command line. Inspect Element was (is?) for the web. I need to play with the new actions in iOS to see how they stack up.
