Assuming this is correct (and I think it might not be everywhere, and default to tipping 20%+ always, but that’s another conversation), why do you think they’re not explaining this alongside like you just did?
For as long as I was a server that was just a rule of thumb, but it does seem like it's not as common as it should be. Maybe the solution is a witty tagline on the receipt that lends to that? I personally think we should get rid of tipping and just pay servers better.
