Customization is not supported yet, although one of the goals of the project was creating a UI surface area that could accommodate this feature in the future. Can you share what’s your keyboard and what particular shortcuts are causing trouble?

I'm using a German QWERTZ layout and the biggest issue are the shortcuts for moving objects forward or backward, but pretty much everything involving a special character that's not a letter simply doesn't work. I love the look of the new overlay though!

Thanks so much. This is really tricky issue, but we can be better. Are there any apps whose German versions (or German-made apps) are good examples on how to handle this area?

As antiquated as it sounds but I think Photoshop did a good job, full customization and warnings if stuff was already assigned.

Got it, thanks! Anything that does it well from the get go, without customization?

It’s really hard to get right, especially since there’s so many different keyboard layouts out there. I’m not sure what Figma uses in the background to detect keyboard input, but perhaps using event.key() instead of key/char-codes could already help.

Can you give an example of a specific situation that’d make a difference? I assume e.g. that you mean that this way you don’t make assumptions that certain specific characters are other specific characters when shifted? Or is it something else?

I think one of the reasons some keyboard shortcuts like Ctrl + [ or Ctrl + ] don’t work at all is that to press [ on a German layout, you have to press AltGr + 8, which probably doesn’t get registered by event.which, while event.key should always report it as the matching bracket

Did you fix this in record time? I just noticed that bring forward / backward is working with my german keyboard now \o/ The shortcut's differ though: Action bar shows the usable ones, shortcut panel the wrong ones.pic.twitter.com/gMn13UY20C
