What if I am? Isn’t a big chunk of typography a slowly evolving set of conventions that cannot be defended in any other way rather than that they feel right?

I find large line-height on small devices and viewports absolutely uncomfortable to read and suspect they frequently come about because of all kinds of reason that are not explicit design intent. But taste definitely varies. Just cautious to suggest new airy standards.
