Folks—let's help each other not use the word "powwow" when referring to meetings. If you do, please apologize and try something else. If you hear others do this, please call them out. Let's be respectful to Native Americans.

Maybe Christians can imagine how disrespectful it would feel to have people use the word "eucharist" or "sacrament" to refer to meetings that have nothing to do with religious customs. It is similarly disrespectful to use the word "powwow."

To avoid being disrespectful by using the word "powwow," you can use words such as "meeting," "check-in," "stand-up," "talk," "huddle," "one-on-one."
