I pretty often use Google Translate to read a web page or article in a language I don't speak/read, and nearly every time it kind of astounds me. It feels like the one part of the jetpack-promised future that's actually here.

Yep, agreed. For all its warts, Wikipedia is remarkably useful to me, on a daily, and often an hourly, basis.

Did anyone ever write a guide to reading Wikipedia responsibly? I bet someone did. It would be an interesting resource. The translation stuff. How you should use it as a jumping off point, but never at face value. List all the well known biases, and so on.
