I always chuckle when Sagmeister gets legitimately upset about rollercoaster designers (or anyone) calling themselves 'storytellers.' His motto is "Design that needed guts from the creator still carries the ghost of these guts in the final execution." Take it down a notch.

"Recently I read an interview with someone who designs roller coasters and he referred to himself as a ‘storyteller.’ No fuckhead, you are not a storyteller, you’re a roller coaster designer!” - Stefan "The Man" Sagmeister https://vimeo.com/98368484

"People who actually tell stories, meaning people who write novels and make feature films don’t see themselves as storytellers. It’s all the people who are not storytellers, who kind of for strange reasons because it’s in the air suddenly now want to be storytellers."

The grandiosity and self-imposed authority that worms itself into the brains of people who run advertising agencies never ceases to amuse me

I have no interest in belittling graphic design, but there's a lot to be said for the cognitive dissonance in the agency world.

I wanna meet a roller coaster designer who’s a bona fide storyteller now. I bet they’d have some damn good stories.
