Okay, the humour got better and even a bit subversive later. Here’s one that says “Atari’s program is our program,” which is a pretty good satire of political ineptitude of that time.pic.twitter.com/J7wWzanXVi

Some of it got pretty dark, too. (Last one says “You wanted to trick me!”)pic.twitter.com/5LJ8m5WqyC

If you type it all in, you will get a whole new font for your ZX Spectrum. They don’t even show you a preview. MOST EXCITING PAGE EVERpic.twitter.com/tcV4aEtMdX

Oh, wow, @bitterman59 solved it via a combination of OCR and Excel.
This is beautiful. Fascinating that someone wanted to make the distinctive ZX Spectrum font look more like Atari or Commodore! I wonder what’s the story there…https://twitter.com/Bitterman59/status/1002282759920996353 …
Marcin Wichary added,
I was also envious of the Atari font as an Apple II user
It could be a fun exercise to rank them all. Some of them are very idiosyncratic. Atari’s felt “right” to me then, but today ZX Spectrum’s feels much better. And VGA feels most nostalgic right now somehow.

I need to retype the hex of my first bitmap font and see what it looked likepic.twitter.com/LYot9X9Tr2
I OCR'd it and converted from hex to dec so it'd work with my spreadsheet. Here ya go.pic.twitter.com/AVAKeUfVqt
Oh my god, that is amazing.
@enf can we get a director’s commentary? :·)
OK! The reason I have this printout is that this font was part of my 5th grade science fair project, "Little letters: Do they matter?" The experiment was: can people read lists of words faster in capital or lower case letters?pic.twitter.com/MMReYuxXvF
The font was critical to the experiment, because the TI-99/4A built-in font only had caps and small caps, no lower case. What I don't know is whether I made the font for the sake of the experiment, or whether the font suggested the idea for the experiment
