I think the thing that stood out to me was robin's note on 'false modesty.' Modesty isn't by necessity false, and shrugging off your own skill at something doesn't mean you are being fake. This doesn't mean it's not worth thinking about, but it is certainly complicated.

Yeah, I think modesty can be born as true, but register as false. To some extent, it’s on the recipient and I cannot do much about it – but it’s also my responsibility to think about how what I say might come across.
