    This is already a great/fascinating example of the many ways companies tried to cash in on Pac-Man’s popularity. This was a category in and of itself!

    Day 6: Tomy Pocketgame is a fun little handheld, almost Plinko-esque. It’s actually an older Tomy game rebranded to Pac-Man. But savvy marketing doesn’t keep this from being quite fun and mildly addicting. 10 games, HS: 8

    My friend is running an experiment in 2020 where every day he tries/highlights something new related to Pac-Man. I’m excited to see what’s in store; Tim wrote the excellent “Art of Atari,” so he has both the eye and the stamina to make this work.

    I used to make a big deal about Google having hired me, what with my theater degree and crappy GPA. I highlighted it as a sign of diversity. The day I realized *it was actually the opposite* was the day a whole lotta things clicked all at once.

    Same in tech. You can find lots of self-taught coders at big tech cos from majority backgrounds. But most of the black folk you will see are over-credentialed. "Harvard this, Howard that, MIT the other," types. Which is why "You don't *need* a CS degree!" is... complicated.
