There has to be a boundary, even if sometimes you step on it. In my case for mental health. My 1st recommendation for remote workers is to go to a coworking space.

Thanks for sharing! What if you don't like coworking spaces? I personally love working from my home office. And what do those boundaries look like for you? Do you never think about work outside of work? I am just really curious

As with most things in remote work, it affords you more freedom, and thus more personal responsibility/discipline. Your boss does not micromanage your time or determine your boundaries. I rely on my family to help me here, and I prefer that, and that's a privilege in itself.

Great point about the family. I agree with that
For me even just having a dog helps, as the dog has their regular time to take a walk and get me out of the house

It exists for remote workers, it's just that it's your responsibility to manage it. Put away the laptop, sign out of slack, step away from your office, and honor your commitments to yourself. I say this like I'm actually *good* at it, and I'm super not. But I'm working on it.

Thanks for being honest ;) I also think that I am not the best at it

It's definitely an integration, a blend. Your mind doesn't stop being a human or a professional, doesn't draw boundaries. But you have to set some constraints on activities and roles to keep them in place - eg, 'I'll write that when I get back to my desk'
-
Yeah that's a good one. I sometimes tend to reply in the moment, maybe even on my phone and that pulls me back in. Love it - thanks for sharing

A small change like adding _family time_ blocks and working hours to my calendar, has significantly reduced the amount of calls that is late in my day. Mine is transparent so everyone can see what I blocked that time for.

Thanks for sharing. I've been doing something similar, but a lot is also based upon timezones and how async your team/company can and does work. Generally my afternoons/evenings are more call heavy.
