So often, stories exploring Trump supporters have found that, no matter what, they back him. In a Michigan county he won by 12 points in 2016, I found something different: Some are peeling away from him, and growing tired of his shutdown stance.https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/trump-voters-now-blame-him-for-the-government-shutdown/2019/01/20/416051de-1b55-11e9-9ebf-c5fed1b7a081_story.html?utm_term=.d2055df433e4 …

One man was shopping at Walmart for a new pair of coveralls. He backed Trump in 2016. And for most of the past two years, he was pleased. Until now. “I was doing fine with him up until this government shutdown,” he said. “It’s ridiculous.”https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/trump-voters-now-blame-him-for-the-government-shutdown/2019/01/20/416051de-1b55-11e9-9ebf-c5fed1b7a081_story.html?utm_term=.d2055df433e4 …

Another man, a Navy reservist, in 2016 wanted to shake up the status quo. He didn’t mind sending a message to the establishment — and, frankly, he liked the idea of a disruptive president. Now? “What the [expletive] were we thinking?”https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/trump-voters-now-blame-him-for-the-government-shutdown/2019/01/20/416051de-1b55-11e9-9ebf-c5fed1b7a081_story.html?utm_term=.d2055df433e4 …

One woman voted for Trump. She’s liked a lot of what he’s done. “But it gets overshadowed by the stunts he pulls,” she said. The shutdown, she said, was one of them. The wall is too much. “Something miraculous has to happen for me to vote for him again.”https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/trump-voters-now-blame-him-for-the-government-shutdown/2019/01/20/416051de-1b55-11e9-9ebf-c5fed1b7a081_story.html?utm_term=.d2055df433e4 …

I've never understood why these polls assume someone is to "blame" for the shutdown. Has anyone considered that Trump voters approve of these hardball tactics? Is it possible that Trump voters give Trump "credit" for the shutdown?

Blackmail to get your way seems to be accepted among Trump supporters. Even though blackmail is illegal. I am holding your government hostage. If you don't give me what I want you will never see it again.

Blackmail is completely acceptable to them. I grew up with working poor who lack morals and will do everything they can get away with, if it benefits them.

Oh please. I give it 5 days post-shutdown before they forget all about this and run right back into his comforting, racist arms.
