Just finished this. My first of hopefully 50 books I'll finish in 2022. It was beautiful but tragic. Won't be rereading "The Secret History" though. This was too sad for me dive into yet another heavy read. I'm gonna pick one of the light-fluffy romcoms I've got. #2022Books

Anyway... Onto book number 4 of the December holidays. "Song of Achilles" by Madeline Miller. Not sure, but may take a break from queer novels to reread one of my favourites, Donna Tartts "The Secret History" after this.

I also loved that they showed that the Iron Throne is physically dangerous/difficult to sit on. In #GoT people were up and down, in and out of that thing like it was a La-Z-Boy. It's a throne literally made out of swords, and they're STILL sharp. #HoTD

I do, however, want another prequel because I want to see the dragons as big as they actually can get. Personally, I don't think Danaerys' dragons were fully grown, and these ones have already started shrinking because they're locked away in the Dragonskeep. #HoTD

As it is, while the educators in Mpho's case are also culpable in his death after failing to protect him as is their duty, in this case this teacher is directly to blame. In addition to being stripped of her teaching license charges of manslaughter should be brought against her.

This is the second child to have committed suicide because of homophobia at school in three months. Mpho Falithenjwa took his life in June. Actually, far as I'm concerned, this isn't suicide. It's homicide. The end goal of homophobia is for us to die.

I feel a way about it, but I won't stand up for South Africa seeing Zimbabweans, Malawians, Zambians, etc dragging us - they're literally laughing at us the way everyone laughs at Americans - for not knowing their are amaZulu in their countries too. It's the least we deserve.

Haven't watched #UntoldNetflix yet, but it feels so weird that news stories I remember & followed during my adulthood now get the 'this wild story from the past' docuseries treatment & it's totally understandable a whole generation of adults will have no knowledge of this.
