They imply that Google is doing this, but the wording in the post indicates TVA has contracted to build and own these, with Google just being the prime customer. Sounds like another "local subsidy for wealthy company" thing.

Question for solar engineers: Why should solar panel assemblies be flat, occupying so much horizontal space? Can’t they make better use of vertical space by mimicking trees, ie can they be aligned into “trees” with branches?

As I recollect, DeepMind developed algorithms that optimized power use in data centers. That contribution across Google’s infrastructure is probably just as, if not more, impactful.
