The guardian swipe at the end is a bit uncessary from Hancock. Thanks for asking though. I do think there is a very strong case that those who are interacting with COVID patients every single day should be offered the full protection on fast track.

Indeed. And I hadn't read it in the Guardian. I saw someone had shared the Israel data from a Times of Israel article...!

Thanks for asking the question. Given commitment to 12 weeks, public needs to be to educates on lower effectiveness, so people do not assume they are more protected than they really are, at the start. It would be good to have immunity at 5 weeks, but it may be more like 3 months.

Also, is there a strong difference in effectiveness guidance between delayed pfizer, and delayed astro-zeneca (oxford)?

It is very dangerous for Hancock to keep parroting the (dubious) 89% figure, as it creates the false impression that you are effectively immune after the first jab and therefore feel free to socialize and not bother having the second jab.

Good to ask the question, but a relief that the strategy still appears to be correct.

Confident based on what advice exactly. The jury is out. It is time the government came clean on the unknown unknowns & the research to discover truth. Also what research is being done on the affects of the vaccine on the transmission. Duration of efficacy?

Hancock's confidence is a virtual guarantee that delaying the 2nd dose is a mistake - involving 2 people instead of 1.
